The Friends of the Yardley-Makefield Branch Library is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support for the services and resources of the library.
We are a devoted group of residents who believe that an excellent library is an essential community asset that reinforces lifelong learning and provides access to information for all.
Funding for our mission comes from memberships, donations, corporate matching programs, estate gifts, and our Book Sale. The Fall Book Sale is our most anticipated and best-known event, and the primary source of funding. It features a wonderful selection of books, audio books, puzzles, CDs, DVDs and specialty items.
Visit ymfriends.org for information or email yardleyfriends@yahoo.com to receive notifications. The Friends fund special programs at the library which are offered throughout the year.
These programs are free and open to the public. The popular 2:00pm Saturday programs cover a wide variety of subjects. Dates and topics are listed on our website. Chair Yoga sessions are offered on Thursdays at 2:00pm.
We also support various Library programs and renovations that improve the library experience.
If you would like to get involved, there are many options: Preparation for the book sale goes on throughout the year and involves organizing donated books and other sale items. We also need help with set-up, work at the sale, and clean-up afterwards.
Publicity opportunities include being a media contact, managing our website and social media, helping with programming and membership, and more!
Scheduling is flexible, all help is appreciated, and some help can even be provided from home.
GET INVOLVED AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!
Come join us at an informational meeting March 19th, 10:00–10:30am in the Library conference room.
