Announcing Newtown Arts Company’s 2024 season of live theater

Join us throughout 2024 as we take you on a tour of literary classics brought to the stage. Our trip begins April 18th – 21st with JEKYLL & HYDE The Musical.

Based on the novel by Robert Lewis Stevenson, Jekyll & Hyde presents an epic struggle between good and evil following the path of the passionate doctor as he swings back and forth between his hope for mankind and the evil that results.

Our journey continues June 20th – 23rd with a stage adaptation of LM Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables. This heartwarming story of orphan Anne Shirley and the lives she touches in the small town of Avonlea is sure to cheer audiences of all ages.

From October 17th – 20th, revisit the mass-hysteria of the Salem witch trials as presented in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. This allegory for 1950’s McCarthyism was first presented in 1953 but still speaks to audiences today.

We close our tour from December 5th – 8th with “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas”, with music from one of America’s most cherished songwriters. Based on the film of the same name, celebrate the season with us as we watch a pair of veterans sing and dance their way to save their beloved general’s Vermont inn.

All performances are for one weekend only with evening performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and matinees on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets may be purchased at www.newtownartscompany.com. All performances will be held at the Newtown Theatre, 120 N. State Street, Newtown.

With a proud tradition of producing live theater and theater education in Newtown since 1983, Newtown Arts Company dedicates a portion of the proceeds from its shows to a Scholarship Fund. Since its founding, Newtown Arts Company has granted more than $210,000 in scholarships to talented local students pursuing postsecondary education in the performing and fine arts.
