On Sunday, March 3rd, the Margaret Gale Thornton, and George Taylor Chapters, NSDAR, hosted a Welcome Home Ceremony for the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 468, Upper Bucks and Lower Lehigh Counties.
The event was held at the VFW Forrest Lodge Post 245 in Sellersville. The Chapter received a special flag from the US Department of Defense (DOD) commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War.
Veterans from the Army, Marines, and Navy were honored. Eight Veterans and three Surviving Spouses in attendance received DAR certificates and DOD lapel pins.
Two more Surviving Spouses among the DAR Members also received lapel pins. Chapter Regents, Nicole Schuster from Margaret Gale Thornton, and Donna Schranz from George Taylor led the ceremony.
US Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick provided certificates and flags flown over the US Capitol for those who were honored.
Guests included PA Representative Craig Staats and Bucks County Controller, Pamela Van Blunk, who is also a member of Margaret Gale Thornton Chapter, NSDAR.
Also attending were Bobbi Riley, Valley Forge Chapter NSDAR, and Bucks County Veteran Liaison, Matthew Allen. The Margaret Gale Thornton Chapter NSDAR, located in Pipersville, was chartered in December 2016.
