Habitat for Humanity of Bucks celebrates dedication of its 129th home

Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County (Habitat Bucks) celebrated its 129th home dedication on April 4th in Croydon, marking a significant milestone and ongoing efforts to offer a path toward affordable homeownership.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tyler, Angelica, and their family into their new home and are grateful for the support of our sponsors and community partners. Together, we are not just building houses; we are fostering hope, stability, and opportunity for families in Bucks County,” said Florence Kawoczka, Executive Director of Habitat Bucks.

Habitat Bucks is grateful to the Bucks County Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for their unwavering partnership and support. Through funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), HCD plays a pivotal role in facilitating affordable housing programs in Bucks County.

This momentous occasion has also been made possible through the generous support of home sponsors including Parx Casino, Blue Rock Construction, DeLuca Homes, M&T Bank, PECO-Exelon, Pulte Homes, Wells Fargo, and Woodside Church. Habitat Bucks extends its deepest appreciation to these organizations and all the volunteers and donors who helped build this home for their commitment to a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

The dedication of this home also marks another achievement under Habitat Bucks’ innovative land trust model. This approach not only makes homes more affordable for the current homebuyers but also preserves the affordability for future generations.

Under this model, the homebuyer purchases only the house, not the land, making the price more affordable. The land is leased from Habitat Bucks in a long-term renewable lease.

In return for being able to purchase a home below its market price, the homebuyer agrees to limit their proceeds when they sell, so that another low-income household can afford to purchase the home. For more information, call 215.822.2812 or visit habitatbucks.org.
