Morrisville on the move!

submitted by Judith Danko, Borough Manager

It’s been a busy past few months in Morrisville Borough, with lots of positive events and accomplishments to share with you.

First, let me welcome our new mayor, Gary Wallace! Mayor Wallace brings an enthusiasm to his post that is long overdue and most welcome.

Next, we welcome our new Councilpersons, Melissa Johnson, John Vitarelli, Marie Kelso, and Luke McKee. They, along with new Council President Helen Hlabol, are working as a team with our current Council members.

Let me also welcome our three new Morrisville Police Department officers, Officer Amanda DeLuca, Officer Dominic Chrzanowski, and Officer Matthew Leonhauser. Under the guidance of our Interim Police Chief Gerald Simpson, they were sworn in by Mayor Wallace on March 26th and joined our existing full- and part-time officers.

Using the Federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds the Borough received, we’ve done some long-overdue repair and reconstruction projects in Borough Hall.

The leaking roof has been replaced, an up-to-date electrical box has been installed, new sewage lines to replace the horrific sewage problems on the bottom floor that caused us to close the building several times have been installed, and the old fueling system for Police, Municipal Authority, and Public Works has also been replaced.

Additional work including an up-to-date computer system and a security system for our Borough employees is in the works. Another success story in the completion of the Bridge Street Project! The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held April 24th at 3:00pm, and all are invited.

I’m proud to announce that Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn will attend to cut the ribbon, together with Borough officials, plus PennDOT, DVRPC, the D&L National Heritage Area, PA Environmental Council, and the East Coast Greenway Alliance.

Additional good news is the 5-mil decrease in your real-estate tax this year!

And please attend, either as a spectator or a participant, in our upcoming Bridge Street Car Show! Hosted by the Morrisville Business Association, we’re closing Bridge Street on May 11th from 4:30-8:00pm for a vintage American and Imported car show. They’ve got cars and clubs from Bucks-Mercer-Montco attending, a VIP Awards presenter, and a variety of foods.
