Family Service Homeless Shelter Benefit garners $210,000

On Saturday, April 20th, Family Service hosted their 12th Annual Homeless Shelter Benefit at Belle Voir Manor in Bensalem, and once again the event was a tremendous success!

Due to the generosity of amazing benefactors, the event raised approximately $210,000, all of which goes directly towards supporting the Shelter and its residents on a daily basis, bringing them one step closer to home.

More than 150 guests were treated to an elegant evening of music, dancing, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dinner.

There was also an exciting call to action and live auction with many desirable packages, ranging from fine dining and theatre experiences to professional sports tickets/memorabilia, elite golf outings and unique getaways.

During her remarks, Family Service Chief Executive Officer Julie Dees used a powerful visual metaphor. “Your support tonight, and throughout the year, is an investment in the potential of each person that turns to us for help,” said Dees. “Your gifts create the environment that allows our residents to grow, thrive, and become truly magnificent. On your tables and throughout the venue, there are 357 acorns to represent the 357 lives, full of potential, that have called the shelter home this past year. Please take an acorn home – put it on your desk, your dresser, or kitchen windowsill. Each time you look at it, remember tonight, remember the work of Family Service, and remember how your support nurtures the potential in our neighbors who need it most. Don’t see the acorn, see the Oak tree.”
