Fall Lecture Series at the Old Barracks Museum

Learn about the exciting history that helped to shape our state and nation. Attend our Fall Lecture Series to hear from highly respected historians and authors as they share and discuss their books.

October 10: Michael C. Harris “Germantown”

“Germantown,” now a busy neighborhood in Philadelphia, was the site of one of the largest battles of the American Revolution. Once a small village outside of the colonial capital, on October 4, 1777, George Washington attempted to recapture Philadelphia through this battle that often gets brushed over but is now discussed in Michael C. Harris’s book.

October 17: Catherine Kerrison “Jefferson’s Daughters”

“Jefferson’s Daughter” shares the story of Thomas Jefferson’s three daughters, Martha and Maria by his wife Martha Wayles Jefferson and Harriet by his slave Sally Hemings. Catherine Kerrison discusses the sisters’ paths and how the laws and customs of early America limited their options.

Lectures will begin at 6 pm at the Old Barracks Museum, located at 101 Barrack Street in Trenton, NJ, followed by a Q&A and book signing. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be available. Copies of these titles are available for purchase in-store or at www.barracks.org. All proceeds go towards supporting the Old Barracks Museum and its mission.

This event is sponsored by The Society of the Sons of Revolution in the State of New Jersey.
