Local Chief Fire Marshall Receives Distinguished Recognition from Top Investigative Agencies

The Upper Makefield Township and Wrightstown citizens can rest soundly knowing that John C. Kernan, IAAI-CFI(V), is actively on duty in these communities, having spent a significant part of his career keeping residents and businesses in this area safe. 

For the past 35 years, he has served as the Chief Fire Marshal in Upper Makefield.

He is also the Chief Fire Marshal in Wrightstown Township, focusing on fire and explosion investigations since January 2024. For the past 20 years, he has assisted them in their investigations.

As a result of his hard work and service to these communities, Chief Kernan was recently recognized by the two leading fire investigation agencies in the country. 

The International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) recognized his 30 years of support to its association. It also mailed him a lapel pin commemorating this milestone as a token of their gratitude. The letter stated,”Your contributions have been instrumental in furthering our mission to cultivate a safer world. Your active participation has played a pivotal role in solidifying our position as a trusted resource within the fire and explosion investigation community.”

In addition to this accomplishment, the National Association of Fire Investigators appointed him a “LIFE MEMBER,” acknowledging his 32-plus years of membership with them. They wrote, “You have also obtained the CFEI Certified Fire and Explosive Investigator, CFII Certified Fire Investigation Instructor, and CVFI Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator certificate through NAFL, in addition to attaining a “fellow” membership with the International Association of Fire Investigators.

John is also a Principal Member of the NFPA National Fire Prevention Association’s #1033 Committee “Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigators”.
