WTB Woodworking owner Bill Burkel preparing his new storefront for opening!

Grand Opening Celebration and Maker Meetup

WTB Woodworking owner, Bill Burkel, will be celebrating the opening of his retail storefront on Saturday, October 26 from 9 am to 3 pm. The store is the result of a long-time hobby and passion that has turned into a full-service woodworking business.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Bill’s aptitude for working with his hands was evident at an early age. He was the kid who pulled broken things from other people’s trash to repair and sell to make money.

Early on, Bill was trained in AutoCAD and got a job in the glazing industry. He eventually opened his own glass business where they designed, built and installed glass in high rise buildings.

Woodworking was always a hobby that he enjoyed and in his free time he would do small wood projects such as plaques and signs for sale on Etsy. Eventually, to increase production, he purchased a CNC – a computerized machine that replicates a program and does the carving.

Bill’s interest in finding a way to utilize the wood from trees that had been taken down led to more equipment needs. He purchased an Alaskan chainsaw mill which enabled him to turn a log into slabs or boards and eventually a Band Sawmill to speed up his production time.

At the end of 2020 he bought a iDRY Vacuum Kiln to more quickly dry the wood he mills and now sells. The new store opening is a result of his growth and expansion into the sale of slabs, lumber, wood working machines, equipment, and supplies.

In addition to the products that he sells in the store, Bill also offers custom services for clients. He can make anything from custom cabinets, live edge tables, solid surface countertops, floating shelves and anything you can imagine.

On Saturday October 26, join Bill and his wife Cheryl for a unique woodworking meetup. Connect with popular YouTube and Instagram creators like Kith Johnson (kjsawdust), Peter Capar (ptreesworkshop) and others, and engage in lively discussions about all things woodworking. It’s a chance to share your projects, learn from experts, and build lasting connections with fellow woodworkers.

WTB Woodworking is located at 390 Pike Road, Unit 2, in Huntingdon Valley. For more information call 215-768-1117 or visit www.wtbwoodworking.com
