Spotlight: Langhorne Council of the Arts

Porch  Fest

The Fourth Annual Langhorne Porch Fest will be held on October 5 from noon – 5 PM in the heart of Langhorne Borough (rain date Oct 6). A dozen bands and other acts will perform on porches throughout the town, within easy walking distance. Musical genres include folk, rock, jazz, Haitian, blues, Broadway, indie, and psychedelic. In other words, there will be something for everyone!

This event, sponsored by Langhorne Council for the Arts, is family-friendly and free, although tipping of the bands is much appreciated. A unique feature of Langhorne Porch Fest is the “Rising Stars Stage” at the Richardson House porch.

Among the young performers will be vocal students of Susan Rheingans singing Broadway show tunes and students from Action Karate showing off their moves.

A complete schedule and map will be posted on www.LanghorneArts.org. Programs will be available on the day of the event. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs or blankets and to wear comfortable shoes for walking (and dancing!).

Langhorne Council for the Arts first hosted Porch Fest in the summer of 2021 as a way to bring the community safely together outdoors for a fun musical experience after a dismal pandemic year. It was also a way to get musicians working again, as they had been hit very hard by shutdowns of their usual venues in 2020-2021. Langhorne Porch Fest was so popular that it has continued as an annual celebration of music and community.

For over thirty years, LCA has enriched the Lower Bucks community with a wide variety of experiences in the visual and performing arts. The Summer Speakers Series and First Fridays in Hulmeville just concluded. The First Fridays Winter Concert Series will begin in January.
