With the holidays upon us, let us remember to be thankful for sharing good times with family and friends. This time of year finds us hosting and entertaining, celebrating with comforting food and drinks amongst our loved ones. However, let us not forget some of the important supporting staff that we tend to take for granted: our furniture!
From dining tables, sideboards, and coffee tables to wood stools, buffets, side tables, chairs, and kitchen islands: our furniture helps us as we prepare and serve delicious holiday meals. Just as the chefs and bartenders earn their well-deserved recovery following a big celebration, our furniture deserves attention and repair too, for our furniture often makes sacrifices as the parties carry on into the night.
After the final guests depart, the dishes are gathered, the kitchen is cleaned, and table linens are removed for cleaning. This is when we notice the white ring left under the finish of the dining table, perhaps from when brother-in-law Ryan set his frosty mug down for a bit too long. Or perhaps it was Uncle Ed who leaned across the table serving food to others, unaware of the scratches being etched in by his belt buckle. Maybe someone (not in my family, of course), having imbibed too many quaffs of eggnog, knocked over a dining chair, cracking the arm or splitting the back splat in half.
Damage to furniture is a fact of life; inevitable, even. Frustrating, yes; but no need to despair, for nearly all damage can be rehabilitated.
