The Friends of the Doylestown Library will again offer Reading to the Dogs, a popular family reading program held in the Pearl Buck Room of the Doylestown Library. Reading to the Dogs will be held from 10:00 to 11:30am on the following Saturdays: September 9th, October 7th, November 11th, and December 9th.
In order to ensure that all attendees get sufficient time with each dog, the Friends request preregistration. Send an e-mail to FriendsofDoylestownLibrary@gmail.com and request one of four times: 10:00am, 10:20am, 10:40am, or 11:00am.
Each person who attends gets the opportunity to choose a book from a collection provided by the Friends, read the book to one or more dogs, and then take the book home.
“Last year’s program brought in more than 300 kids and more than 200 adults,” noted Steve Schreiner, president of the Friends of the Doylestown Library. “This fall, we’re encouraging all family members – kids, teens, and adults – to join in and read to the dogs.”
The dogs are trained therapy dogs provided by Roxy Therapy Dogs and Caring, Comfort, Canines. The Friends of the Doylestown Library is a non-profit organization supporting the Doylestown Library.
