Trevose Horticultural Society celebrating 101 years

For over 101 years the Trevose Horticultural Society (THS) has been a presence in the Bucks County area and surrounding communities. THS is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Garden Club Federation of PA.

This year’s annual Standard Flower Show, Bee Inspired” complements the Society’s 101st year with an expansive themed schedule that includes artistic design classes, 135 horticultural classes and educational exhibits.

The show, hosted by St. Ephrem’s Catholic Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem is tentatively scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 23rd and 24th.

A special workshop will be offered at the Bensalem Senior Center for seniors who enter the flower show Sponsored Group Award classes.

At the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, members volunteer and also chair, exhibit and merit ribbons in the forced bulb classes, horticulture displays and design classes

In summer 2023, members donated over 1200 pounds of homegrown produce to the Warminster food bank. Members adopted the Feasterville Fire House planter and will continue to maintain the landscape with colorful seasonal plants.

Residents at the Delaware Valley Veteran’s Home on Southampton Road are recipients of hand-knitted lap robes, shawls and Afghans.

Monthly meetings feature interesting and educational topics on a variety of garden-related, environmental or design themed programs and workshops.

Following a brief business meeting and program, members and guests enjoy a “Little Show” and refreshments. An informative monthly newsletter is included in the annual dues.

THS meets every third Tuesday (except January) at 7:00pm at the Bensalem Senior Center, 1850 Byberry Road, Bensalem. Membership is open to all gardeners. Guests are welcome; a donation of $5 is requested.
