Middletown Township pioneers Electric Vehicle infrastructure with first Level 3 Charging Stations in PA

Middletown Township has announced the opening of four DC-Fast Charging (DCFC) Level 3 Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations, making history as the first municipality in Pennsylvania to implement fast charging stations.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on March 19th at the Middletown Township Municipal Center.

This significant milestone marks a step forward in the Township’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The Level 3 Charging Stations signify a critical investment in clean energy infrastructure, promoting the adoption of electric vehicles and reducing the community’s carbon footprint.

“We are thrilled to introduce Middletown Township’s Level 3 Charging Stations, further solidifying our position as a leader in sustainable initiatives within the state,” said Michael Ksiazek, Chairperson of the Board of Supervisors. “These stations represent our dedication to providing residents and visitors with accessible, convenient, and efficient charging options, supporting the transition to cleaner transportation alternatives.”

The ceremony featured remarks from Chairperson Ksiazek and other guests, highlighting the importance of sustainable infrastructure and the positive impact it will have on the community and the environment.

Attendees had the opportunity to witness the unveiling of the charging stations and experience firsthand the cutting-edge advancements in sustainable transportation within Middletown Township.

This occasion was an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication for a greener future that was made possible by a $215,000 grant from DEP’s Alternative Fuel Incentive Grant (AFIG) program and a $60,000 PECO EVsmart rebate.
