The Makefield Women’s Association (MWA) held their annual Beneficiaries Meeting earlier this month at the Lower Makefield Township Community Center in Yardley, where they announced the awardees of their fundraising efforts raised over the course of the past year.
They are as follows:
- Bucks for Kids, an all-volunteer organization that has for over 30 years helped fund extracurricular activities for kids and teens being cared for by Bucks County Children & Youth.
- A Woman’s Place (AWP), the only domestic violence community benefit organization in Bucks County. AWP provides a full range of programs and services to individuals experiencing domestic violence, their children, and the community.
- Family Service Association – Bucks County Homeless Shelter, a temporary residence for individuals and families who have lost safe and stable housing. The shelter operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It serves approximately 75 people at any given time.
- Yardley-Makefield Fire Company relies on volunteers and donations to provide emergency services to the community.
- Penndel Pantry is part of the Bucks County Housing Group which has two food pantries (the other is located in Doylestown) and distributes over 179,000 pounds of food and serves over 113,000 community members annually.
- Additionally, the MWA awards scholarships to two deserving area students. This year they are Pennsbury High School seniors, Meghan Crohe and Gianna Mathas.
Congratulations to all Beneficiaries and thanks again to the tireless efforts of the members of the MWA.
