Our Rabbi has deployed to Germany. What do we do now!
As some of you in the community may know, CBOI is in an unusual situation. We have stepped up and faced the problem by adapting, as we have always done.
This year, we will have Anne Pettit taking over as our Rabbinic Intern while she finishes her second year of Rabbinic School on her way to becoming ordained. Anne graduated from Law School and was a practicing attorney. She has an extensive educational background and has been a visible presence at shabbat services. Feel welcome at our services and hear her read Torah and conduct our interesting Saturday morning discussions. Anne also conducts weekly Talmud and Rashi classes and supervises our B’nai Mitzvah students.
Cantor Warschauer will be continuing with us for three weeks a month. He will be leading services making our Friday nights a joyful experience playing his guitar while singing the prayers. He will be our cantor for High Holiday services and will be conducting our High Holiday choir.
Both Cantor Warschauer and Anne will be available for pastoral care, lifecycle events, community outreach, adult programming, etc. Joan Hersch, our world famous Education Director of the Rabbi Howard Hersch Religious School will continue to encourage the students to learn about Judaism.
Our religious school is focused on engaging our children and families in a creative and meaningful exploration of our Jewish traditions, history, community, prayer and language enabling each child to thrive according to their individual needs and abilities.
Although we may not look the same as we had, we will continue to be the kind of congregation that welcomes all and stays as Hamish as we have always been, setting us apart from other congregations.
