Spotlight: The Ladies of History

Alisa Dupuy, resident of Newtown and owner of The Ladies of History, is bringing a new

show to our area. She has portrayed Martha Washington all over the tri-state area since 2009 and is partnering up with Ohio resident Curt Radabaugh who is known for his portrayal of General George Washington.

These two history aficionados want America to know the Washingtons as real people who lived in a very different time.

America is preparing for its 250th anniversary, the semiquincentennial in 2026, and Dupuy and Radabaugh are taking this opportunity to bring greater awareness and appreciation of the country’s first “First Couple”.

The show is entitled “George and Martha Washington: A Love Story”, written by Dupuy. The two exchange stories and remembrances of their childhoods, how they met and fell in love, their lives before, during, and after the war, as well as describing their last moments together.

They also mention the contributions of others, such as enslaved people, Native Americans, and women who fought or helped the cause. Audience questions are welcome.

Radabaugh is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and is retired from law

enforcement. His life of service has now transitioned to helping preserve America’s past using “living history”.  His business, Experience George Washington, brings our Founding Father to life for schools, numismatic shows, and community events all over the country.

Dupuy is a retired French teacher from Princeton Public Schools and Lafayette

College.  She has had a life-long interest in history and turned that interest into a business portraying famous women in history, Martha Washington being the first.  She wants to bring Martha to life for a new generation and remind us of women’s contributions to the American cause.
