There is something for everyone at the annual Crafts in the Meadow Festival. Abundant community gatherings in autumn celebrating the changing of the leaves, crisp breezes and cozy times with hot apple cider, warming soups and friends are just around the corner in Bucks County.
An annual Festival for the Arts in its 14th year as Crafts in the Meadow returns on October 19 and 20 to Tyler Park Center for the Arts. Attendees can expect fine art and craft demonstrations, exceptional works to purchase directly from the artists who created them, live music and surprises encouraging wonder and a chance to open oneself to the magic of creativity.
One such artistic vision began with a visit to Thailand where Bodhi trees are decked with Mai Kham “prayer poles”. They take the form of a “crutch” raised up and tucked beneath branches of the trees. The poles are ornamented with both color and text containing prayers for health, longevity and family.
“The Story Pole Project” is a Western version with trees inspiring participants’ creations, part of an installation of opportunity, putting forward wishes, hopes and thanks, to offer up personal messages, to commune and share.
Cobb oven building and tasting, wood fired kiln demos, miniature horses, and kid’s crafts round out the weekend.
