Fall events at Yardley United Methodist Church
A “Blessing of the Pets” takes place on Sunday, October 6 at 1:30pm, in the church’s parking lot at the intersection of Yardley–Langhorne Road and Route 332 in Lower Makefield. Bring your pets (leashed or crated, if needed), or a representation of your pet (a picture or a stuffed toy), if you think your pet would find it difficult to attend!
Don’t have a pet? You’re welcome to attend anyway to enjoy watching. Donations of canned and dry pet food will be received and delivered to animal rescue organizations.
The annual Pumpkin Patch opens on Sunday, October 13 at noon and will be open every day from noon to 6:00 pm through October 31st. Hundreds of pumpkins of all sizes, shapes and colors will be available for sale, with proceeds used to fund the church’s two summer mission trips.
Visit The Patch at Scammell’s Corner to purchase pumpkins for fall decorating, for gifts, or just to enjoy walking through The Patch and taking pictures of your family and friends there. The pumpkins are grown on the Navajo Reservation in Farmington, New Mexico, providing year–round employment for Native Americans in an area of the country with high unemployment.
Donations of non–perishable foods for Penndel Food Pantry will be received at The Pumpkin Patch again this year. Protein–rich foods (canned meats and fish, canned and dried beans) are especially needed.
Two year–round receptacles are stationed in the church’s parking lot; one, a mini–pantry where patrons may either take what they need or donate to it what they can. The second receptacle is a utility bin, with donations delivered to the Penndel Food Pantry. Thank you for whatever you can provide!
