Bucks Learning Cooperative marks 10th year of transformative education

BLC members partnered with Spearhead Project Earth to help clean up Burlington Island.

Over the past decade, Bucks Learning Cooperative (BLC), a non-profit education center serving teens aged 13-18 and located in Langhorne, has been a pioneering force in self-directed learning. As an alternative to traditional schooling, BLC provides an educational home for young people seeking more independence, flexibility, and the freedom to explore their passions. At BLC, students engage in self-directed education, allowing them to take charge of their own learning journey and focus on what truly interests them.

One parent recently shared in a Google review: “BLC is a very special place that has made a huge difference in the lives of my children. Our son began attending BLC after feeling frustrated with his public high school, and we are so glad we made the switch. The culture of BLC is kind, inclusive, and supportive. Our son is happy, confident, and feels like he found ‘his people’ there. Because of his positive experience, we also chose to send our daughter to BLC. Both of our kids have appreciated that BLC teaches them to take responsibility for their own learning, focusing on social-emotional growth and practical life skills in addition to academics.”

Our teens leave BLC with more than just a plan for their next steps—they carry with them a sense of ownership, personal agency, and a renewed passion for learning and life. Their success is, of course, their own, but it’s supported by our dedicated staff, a large network of volunteers, and a diverse, caring community committed to their growth. BLC not only benefits from the generosity of its volunteers but also actively gives back to the local community. This includes painting the fence at Langhorne Open Space, picking up trash at Core Creek Park, and participating in Project Spearhead to clean up Burlington Island. Our board of directors and advisors bring a wealth of experience from various backgrounds, all united by a commitment to helping teens realize their full potential through self-directed education.

BLC members assembled and delivered weekend meal bags to Trenton Area Soup Kitchen in honor of MLK Day of Service.

BLC is proud to be a part of The Learning Cooperatives network, which includes our sister centers, Princeton Learning Cooperative and Raritan Learning Cooperative. As we celebrate our 10th year of transformative education, we invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone and to explore how we can help your teen take charge of their life and education.
