    Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” dances into Newtown in December

    Experience the joy and warmth of the holiday season with your family as Newtown Arts Company sings and dances its way into your heart with our production of Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” from December 5 – 8 at the newly-renovated historic Newtown Theatre.

    Based on the beloved, timeless film, this heartwarming musical adaptation features 17 Irving Berlin songs and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love A Piano,” “How Deep Is the Ocean” and the title song “White Christmas,” “White Christmas” is an uplifting wholesome musical that will delight audiences of all ages.

    This production of  “White Christmas” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals, www.concordtheatricals.com, and is under the direction of Christina Breeman, musical direction of Joe Nappi, and choreography of Lester Holmes.

    Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” is based upon the Paramount Pictures film, written for the screen by Norman Krasnodar, Norman Panama, and Melvin Frank. Music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, book by David Ives and Paul Blake. The original stage production was directed by Walter Bobbie, orchestrations by Larry Blank, vocal and dance arrangements by Bruce Pomahac.

    Performance dates are Thursday, December 5 at 7:30 pm, Friday, December 6 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, December 7 at 2 pm. and 7:30 pm, and Sunday, December 8, at 2 pm.
