Spotlight: Yardley Historical Association

Old Library by Lake Afton, 11/3/2023

It may look just like a pretty little church, but it isn’t. The Old Library by Lake Afton is Yardley’s landmark. For 100 years, the distinctive Victorian building served as the town’s public library. Today it is preserved and maintained by the Yardley Historical Association. Inside is a growing collection of books, photographs, newspapers, maps and ephemera related to the history of Yardley and its surroundings.

Come discover the Old Library and take advantage of the variety of educational and entertaining activities that the Yardley Historical Association sponsors throughout the year. Book Swaps, bringing to mind the Old Library’s original use, are held quarterly. Guided walking tours of Yardley neighborhoods step off year round and are an excellent way to learn more about the community. Local history and timely topics are featured at quarterly meetings. Special holiday events are highlights.

Most activities take place in the Old Library located at 46 West Afton Ave. The Old Library is open to the public on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month and by appointment. Volunteers interested in helping to catalog and protect items in the collection are very welcome.
