Support, respect, and advocacy are the foundation of the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging and the services it provides. The Agency’s services support older adults aged 60+ and their families, enable residents to remain in their homes as long as possible, keep them connected to the community, and protect them from abuse and exploitation.
The Agency’s offerings include: information and referral to answer questions about available senior services and resources; health and wellness programs supporting older adults in making lifestyle changes to improve health, cope with chronic illness and recognize health and safety risks in and outside the home; the annual Senior Games event; nutrition services, including home delivered meals, congregate meals, and education; personalized counseling on Medicare insurance options and other issues (PA MEDI), and financial assistance to pay Medicare and prescription drug insurance premiums; assistance with concerns about quality of services at adult day centers, assisted living and nursing care facilities (Ombudsman); subsidy for transportation by Bucks County Transport; employment referral; legal counseling; socialization and recreational activities available through its senior center partnerships; caregivers financial support; and Long-Term Care services.
Long-Term Care services include: determining a person’s eligibility for adult day care, in-home care or nursing facility services; assisting in the development of care plans; coordinating in-home care services; and arranging for financial assistance for eligible consumers in need of adult day care, personal care tasks, adaptive equipment, or home modifications.
Through its Protective Services unit, the Agency investigates confidential reports of need for all adult victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and abandonment. Reports of abuse are accepted 24-hours-per-day every day at 1-800-243-3767.
