At Friends Village, we are dedicated to fostering growth and transformation for our residents and the greater community. Our winter programming, kicking off on January 27, is designed to inspire and engage, offering a diverse range of sessions that will encourage personal development and learning. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and will be hosted at Friends Village Styer Campus, located at 331 Lower Dolington Road in Newtown.
Starting January 27 and running through March 6, we are excited to offer “Yoga for Seniors”, led by Joe Simek, an internationally certified Yoga Therapist and 500-hour level Yoga Teacher. This program is designed to promote wellness and relaxation for all levels.
In February, our programming continues to captivate with a variety of informative and engaging topics. Sean Connolly will lead a discussion on “Quaker City: Philadelphia’s Quaker Experiment and Historic Preservation”, exploring the legacy of the Quaker colonial government and the important roles Quakers played during the Revolutionary Era. Dr. Cindy Baum-Baicker will present, “Adult Children & Aging Parents: Issues to be Discussed & Wisdoms to be Shared”, while Sharon Hulihan and Wendy Kane will take us on a fascinating journey, “Digging Into the Past with the Graveyard Girls”, exploring the history and connections between Newtown Friends Meeting House and Friends Village.
In March, we are pleased to offer Mary Limbert’s, “Mind Matters and the Preparing Together Workshop”, focused on the importance of having an emergency plan in place. We will also host a five-week “Computer Essentials”, as well as two additional classes: “Smartphones at a Glance” and “Google Photos”.
Additionally, Shikha Prashar, an Edward Jones Financial Advisor, will present a four-part series on financial literacy, including, “Woman, Wealth, and Wisdom”, “Savvy Woman, Smart Investors Take Charge of Their Financial Future”, “Making it Last: Retirement Income Strategies”, and “Alzheimer’s Conversations: Protecting Your Health and Wealth”.
